Always wanted a Split Screen VW. Its iconic looks and styling make it a real head turner. As it is a ‘50’s van and spent most of it’s life in Phoenix Arizona, to me the logical thing to ‘theme’ it was ‘American Hot Rod/Route 66 Diner. Rock-Ola made juke boxes in the 1950’s and their logo fitted in well, with my colour choice.
The Bus was made in Germany on the 5th March, 1958 and was shipped to Australia. It was sold new to a Gentleman that owned it for the next 49 years. Although, after 8 years in Australia it was then shipped to Arizona USA as he moved and took the Bus with him. It was sold and shipped to England still in its original condition. All the body work and chassis is still original except for the Nearside outer sill.
